Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced Hockey Rivière-du-Loup to cancel the presentation of the Provincial Pee-Wee Snow Lepage Millwork Tournament which was to be presented from January 28 to 31, 2021. This means that the celebrations surrounding the 50th anniversary of this prestigious tournament will have to wait until 2022.
When the organization decided to cancel its 2 other tournaments last September, the McDonald’s Bantam Provincial Hockey Tournament (end of November) and the Desjardins Midget Provincial Hockey Tournament (beginning of January), we hoped that the situation would evolve in order to hold the Pee-Wee Neige Lepage Millwork Provincial Tournament as planned. However, with the pandemic on the rise throughout Quebec and most regions now in the red zone, it is now unthinkable to hold the event in 2021.
The RDL Hockey Tournament Committee will therefore put all its energies into preparing the festivities surrounding the 50th anniversary of the Lepage Millwork Provincial Snow Pee-Wee Tournament which will now take place from January 27th to 30th 2022. A positive point in this decision is that the Cité des jeunes Stadium will be ready to welcome again the teams from Quebec and New Brunswick who will participate in this 50th edition. It is worth noting that the Lepage Millwork Provincial Pee-Wee Snow Tournament is the oldest sporting event still held in the city.
The next edition of the McDonald’s Bantam Provincial Hockey Tournament is scheduled for November 25 to 28, 2021. As for the Midget Desjardins Provincial Hockey Tournament, it will be held from January 6 to 9, 2022.
Finally, as for the presentation of the Dodge Cup scheduled for next April, Hockey Quebec should make a decision on whether or not to hold this event in the next few weeks, but with the current situation regarding the COVID 19, it does not augur well.
